Into The Wild is the Boston-raised rapper's second release, following the much poppier "Blow Up" single, since signing a six million dollar (According to rumors and Sammy himself on "Midnight Run") record deal with RCA/Sony.
"Six comma zero zero zero comma, zero zero zero, you the man. Kinda."
-Sammy Adams on "Midnight Run" off of Into The Wild The Pre-Album
For those who were disappointed with the poppy, less lyrical "Blow Up", Into The Wild gets Sammy back to his Electro/HipHop roots along with absolutely filthy flow and unparalleled swag. While the updated name, image, haircut, and pop-single looked like a sign that old Sam may be gone, Into The Wild proves that while we may see the emergence of a more mainstream public image for Sam, his deal with RCA/Sony will not keep him from progressing his true artistry and giving true Sammy fans what they really want.
After crushing the tour scene in 2011 and refraining from releasing much new music, Sammy is bursting back onto the scene following his major label deal. Into The Wild is just the kick-start that Sammy needs to regain the momentum he generated following his earlier success with Boston's Boy and Party Records and pave the way for him to finally "Blow Up" the way that all Sammy fans have been waiting for.
Let's not forget how much bigger Sam Adams was than Mac Miller just one year ago. Based on memory, Sam was at about 300,000 FB fans when Mac had about 150,000. Since then Mac has taken the very successful and strategic approach of staying independent, releasing as much content as possible and organically growing to become one of the most popular and valuable hip hop artists in the game right now.
Sam's approach has been quite different, as his lack of new material in 2011 has kept his fan base rather stagnant, while behind the scenes Sammy's team has been successfully working on obtaining a monumental major label record deal. While the Sam and Mac's strategies are seemingly contrasting, they will both lead to wild success and mainstream popularity.
For everyone who has been watching Sam's career closely, his label signing and more importantly return to the public with new material should feel very good and come as a relief. For a minute it seemed Sam Adams may not climb back to the levels he was at and further achieve his potential. But, nope. Sammy's got this. Go back and listen to his old records and its clear he always has.
Give Into The Wild the full stream and download. The high energy electro-infused "Midnight Run" will suck you in and you likely won't be let go until you've made it through the closing track "Bullets". When your done, one thing will be clear. Sam "Sammy Adams" Wisner has arrived.
