Tech N9ne & Machine Gun Kelly – Live @ Soundstage, Baltimore, MD Pt. II/II (VTT Photos)
When one hears the Kansas City legend Tech N9ne talk about being the number 1 independent rapper of all time, it’s tough to really know what the hell he’s talking about, especially if you’ve never bought one of his 12+ studio albums or followed closely. Yet seeing the man in person and stepping into a sold-out downtown venue full of people who know every word coming out of the guys’ mouth, is all the convincing that someone unfamiliar might need.
The presence that Tech’s headlining tour alone had in Baltimore for the course of a day was enough to get a buzz going. I’d tell people I was going to see a Tech N9ne x MGK show, and they wouldn’t know who the hell I was talking about, but chances are they’d seen the outrageous array of buses and hype outside of Baltimore’s Sound Stage (pic above). From the time the doors opened, it was further obvious that Strange Music and crew had the night to themselves, with a captivated crowd and plenty of girls on shoulders more than happy to flash bare chest to the 40-yr-old father.

As previously-stated, MGK put on an awesome performance, and to have both of these Midwestern talents together on the same (record-breaking) Hostile Takeover tour is a rarity and definitely to be appreciated. Yet for all the enthusiasm that Kells was drawing from the crowd, people were in the venue to see Tech N9ne, and despite playing show after show night after night, fans were made to feel like this was the only show of the tour.
